Black Formal Suits

So what's the difference between a black tuxedo and a black formal suit?  They are actually very similar.  The main difference is a tuxedo will usually have satin accents on the jacket lapels, pockets, and outer legs.  If you remove the satin accents, you then have a formal suit.
